As far as Legace vs. Osgood. I'm glad that the Wings didn't just automatically start Ozzie. Legace played pretty well for us last year, and he deserves his chance to compete for the number one spot. Alternate starters for a while, and let the two duke it out to see who should be our starter for the playoff run.
College football is in full swing. MSU had a tough loss against Michigan last week, but if we beat Ohio State next week we control our destiny. But the Big Ten is awesome this year. Penn State is back, Minnesota is up and coming, Wisconsin is playing pretty well, even Northwestern can put up a fight this year. Our conference is WIDE open, and it makes for really entertaining games.
Professional football. As if watching great football all Saturday wasn't enough, I get to watch great football all Sunday too. The Lions have looked OK so far this season. That Bears game was embarrasingly bad, but we kicked the shit out of Green Bay, should have won against a tough Tampa Bay team, and beat the Ravens (Although Baltimore played terrible) But as the annoucer said, we played 3 of the top 5 defenses in the NFL the last three weeks, so a 2-2 record right now is OK. It's enough to lead the NFC north anway....
One thing I have to mention this week is the play of Kevin Jones. First, how can you not like anyone with such a great first name, but he really impressed me today. At least three times during the game, he got hit in the backfield and fought for those tough after contact yards, earning a three yard gain instead of a two yard loss....or converting on that 3 and short instead of being forced to punt. One run in particular.....none other than Ray Fucking Lewis himself comes rushing into the backfield basically untouched. By all rights Jones should have been down for a loss, but he spun away from Lewis (no easy task), right into the waiting arms of another Raven linebacker. Jones spun away from him too, leading to a gain of 8 or 9. Good tough running from Kevin Jones today. I approve.
MLB playoffs. Houston and Atlanta went 18 INNINGS today. Anytime a game goes that late, it automatically becomes exciting. I can't root for the Tigers seeing as they suck this year (still) but at least I can cheer on the White Sox. And I get to cheer against Mike and Adam by rooting for the Yankees. Good times.
USA Soccer. Sure we got our asses handed to us by Costa Rica, but the game wasn't about the score for the Americans. That game was about winning roster spots. I'm rooting for Twellman and Ching to make the squad, and truthfully I would rather see them start than Wolfe (who is way overrated) and Mathais (who I hate). I'm not even sure how I feel about McBride anymore (traitor). He needs to make a statement the next time he plays. One thing I will say is that his fellow defector Bocanegra played very poorly. Yeah, he's better than big CJ Brown at right back, but I would still like to have a little more help for poor Eddie Pope. Our outside backs killed us against Germany last World Cup, so it would be nice to see that shored up by next year.
It's a great time to be a sports fan.

It's that time again: time to hear why I'm worried about Michigan State losing. Mainly because they lost to Penn State last weekend. But I also question whether MSU will stray from their game plan. They need to give the ball to Stanton in key situations.
I REALLY hope the Lions have a good game next weekend since I face Cori next weekend and her team depends on Carolina's success.
Now I'm a White Sox fan... which means you can still root for the Yankees and get me mad.
