Shoot Em Up

This movie is absolutely ridiculous. But ridiculous in a good way. I don't know what else I can say. It completely lives up to its title, Clive Owen shoots a LOT of people. But what I liked about it was that it did not take itself too seriously. How can I put this? It's not an action/comedy, and its not a satire of action movies. The best I can come up with is: it knows that it is being ridiculous, and celebrates that fact. There is an undercurrent of dark humor that runs throughout the movie, although it's never laugh-out-loud funny, which is a good. I enjoyed this movie.
Thumbs Up, four out of four stars.

I haven't heard of Shoot Em Up... maybe when it comes to our dollar theater I'll give it a shot. Speaking of which, aren't dollar theaters the greatest invention? They get movies before they hit video stores, and yet it is less expensive than it would be to rent it.

I would have to say my favorite movie of the summer was Knocked Up... I had pretty high expectations for it going in and it really lived up to them. Within the first 10 minutes, I knew I was going to love it.
