We were decent against England. We were solid defensively (for the most part) and we scored on a set piece. That was good. We still seem to be skittish with ball at our feet, especially in the first half. There were several times I noticed that the outside backs had ACRES of room to dribble into the attacking third, but instead opted for kickball and just booted it (to the other team.) IT DOESN'T WORK! (Except for that goalkeeper error, but you can't rely on that as a strategy) It didn't work in high school, it didn't work in college, it's not going to work in a world cup. Take the space that the defense gives you. Wait until you are challenged, then pass the ball. I'm not asking for the D-backs to be running at defenders, just to take the open space and pass the ball around.
Overall, we did improve over our previous performances, and that's preciscely what we needed to do to win the game. But to win the next, we will need to improve even more.
