A Scanner Darkly: This movie is just odd. It takes a little while (and an open mind) to get used to the visual style of the movie. The plot is OK, but it can be hard to follow at times (which is the point, but still...) I think this movie gets a lot easier if you actually are on drugs. 2/4 stars
A History of Violence: This is technically classified as an action movie, but the pacing is markedly different from a typical action movie. I would classify this as a drama. Anyway, this is not an easy movie. It's hard to say anything meaningful about the plot without spoiling anything, so I'll just say that there are several scenes which made me say "Jesus Fucking Christ" aloud to myself as I watching it. I think Mike would like most of this movie, and absolutely hate the ending. I liked it. 3/4 stars.
The Corruptor: This movie is basically the 1999 version of The Departed, but set in Chinatown instead of Boston. It even has Mark Wahlberg! 3/4 stars.
Idiocracy: Luke Wilson is frozen (Futurama Style) and wakes up 500 years in the future. Culture and intelligence have deteriorated so much that Wilson has become the smartest man in the world. This movie is not really that funny. but it makes a good point. (with a sledgehammer) I had a hard time watching any TV for a few days after watching this movie. 2/4 stars.
Crank: This movie delivers what it promises. It is non-stop action all the way. If you don't care about petty details like plot, characters, or realism, this is the movie for you. 2/4 stars.

I loved Idiocracy! You didn't mention that the guys from the future want to have sex with everything. The idea for the movie was funnier than the movie itself. With a better cast, better writing, and an ideal release date (like August or January) it would've done really well. I think it may have been direct to video.
I'm curious about "A History of Violence" now...but if I'll hate the ending, I don't want to see it...but I do because I'm curious now...damn you Kevin.
You might like it, who knows? It's definitely .....different.
Give it a try so we can talk about it.
