Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy is basically the sequal to Mario 64. Nintendo fans such as myself have been waiting for this game for such a long time, and the expectation level has grown so high, that it would be almost impossible for this game to live up to the hype.

And that's pretty much how it has played out so far. Mario Galaxy almost lives up to the hype, but not quite. I like this game, but it has a few small things that bother me.

1) It's too easy to "beat the game." I use quotation marks because there are two definitions for beating this game. One is to defeat Bowser and save the Princess. Using this definition, I beat the game in about 10 hours. Definition two is to unlock all the secrets and beat every level. This is much harder to do, and I'm maybe half-way there.

2) Individual levels are too short. There is a huge variey of levels, but it seems like the developers skimped a little on the quality to increase the quantity. I would prefer that each level be a little more in-depth and require a little more puzzling-solving. (a la Mario 64)

These issues may be resolved, however, as I work through the rest of the game.

The pros of this game far outweigh the cons, but the Mario franchise has set the bar so high that a slight nitpick in a different game is a bigger issue for a Mario game.
In the end, I agree with Adam's rating. 4/5.

After playing the actual game myself, I would downgrade it to a 3/5. The game is too easy to beat the game. I completely agree that the puzzles should have been more difficult.
