Becky Hammon can play for whoever she wants. If the USA team won't take her, and the Russians will, more power to her. I will be rooting for her...unless they are playing the Americans, in which case I hope she gets crushed. But she is now my favorite WNBA player, not that that is saying much.
Heath Ledger was a great Joker. But it's not the greatest acting performance of all-time. I don't care how deep and dark it is, it's still a comic-book movie. Enough already.
Speaking of comic-book movies, The Watchmen comes out in 2009. Good times.
I'm keeping a Neilsen ratings diary this week. I like doing it, but I feel pressured to watch TV all the time, just so I can get a plug in for the shows I like. If I miss a show, I feel like I should write in a little note "but I still like the show!" Looking back over the first few days...almost every entry is sports-related. I love it.
The new tag line for Lions seasons tickets is "believe in right now." My response: Not until they fire Millen.
Ever since I went to a Tigers game with my brother a few weeks ago, I feel more into the team than I did at the start of the season. More than 50% of my TV diary is Tigers baseball of FSN. A month ago, they wouldn't have had more than a 15-minute segment here or there.
It seems like the only books I read anymore are barely comprehensible. Vonnegut, Murakami, Homes, even Pirsig. I'm not exactly sure what they are saying, but for some odd reason, I enjoy it anyway. That being said though, I think my next novel has to be something normal. Or at least something that makes sense. Just to bring me back down to Earth for a minute.
The guitar solo at the 75% mark of the Metallica song "one" is driving me crazy on guitar hero. I just cannot get past that part, even with star power. Sigh, it's definitely stuck in my head though...

I'm becoming more confused with the Hammon each day.
She says she had no chance making the USA roster, but USA is saying she'd have a "great chance" (PR move?).
When asked if she was just playing for money, she commented that basketball was her livlihood, and that playing for Russia was a career move (or something to that effect)...but in the same breath, she talks about playing in the Olympics and the Olympic dream, and that the money was just "icing on the cake". I don't know, but when you say you're in Russia for the money, and then tell me that playing for Russia is about representing "your country", I find it hard to believe. You're telling me that 1/4 million dollar bonus you'd get if Russia wins gold didn't help make your decision easier???
I don't know, this story makes my head spin, and I'm over it...now.
I'm surprised by your interest in the Tigers...shocked actually. But I'm happy about it! Go Tigers!!!
I saw that Becky Hammon story on ESPN - that is bullshit and she has no right to play for Russia because she didn't make the American team.
Heath Ledger was amazing. Stacey and I just saw it tonight and it was such a good movie. It may not be the greatest acting performance of all-time, but he deserves an oscar nom.
Speaking of which, we both saw the Watchmen preview and both gave it two thumbs down. Sorry Kev, but we just don't have the same taste sometimes.
I saw that Lions tagline when we went home to Michigan last weekend and I almost shit my pants.
The Watchmen is one of the best, if not the best, graphic novel of all-time. (at least in english anyway. I know that Japan has some great stuff, but I'm not familiar with it)
We studied The Watchmen in my 300 level IAH class.
I have no idea if it will translate well to the big screen. (i'm especially concerned about Rorschach) But if anything, this would be the comic-book movie for people who usually don't like the genre. (assuming that they do it well.)
Becky Hammon lives in Russia 8 months out of the year, and has dual citizenship. She has EVERY right to play for Russia if she wants to. I concede that the money is a major factor, and that given the choice she would probably rather play for the US.
But if I were in her shoes, I would do the exact same thing.
