Do you believe in the transformative power of words? What is a song? What is a speech? What is a poem? Can you recognize transcendent beauty? What is a painting? What is a sunset?
To some, these things are empty and hollow. To such people, the things that they hear and the things that they read and even the words that they say exist in a vacuum. They are sterilized and processed to such an extent as to be divorced from any meaning. Such people believe that the answers to the questions posed above can be found in a dictionary.
And to those people, I say you are lost. LOST! You have become so entrenched, so hypnotized, by everyone and everything around you that your whole life has become conformity and wrote memorization. Slowly, ever so slowly, the color and passion has been drained from your world. It seeped out in such tiny increments that you never noticed that anything had gone missing. But your eyes no longer see, your ears no longer hear, and your mouth no longer speaks. Your eyes and your ears and your mouth are now their eyes, their ears, and their mouth.
For the love of God, wake up! Life is blooming all around you!
Look around you right now, an infinity of wonder and astonishments is right in front of your eyes. Right now, this moment, this very second I am typing and this very moment you are reading, is filled with miracles. See the color! Feel the texture! Taste the sweetness!
Life itself is an impossible treasure. We have won the lottery. We have hit the jackpot. We, the living, are the lucky ones. Do not squander your wealth in apathy, or ignorance, or boredom. Do not accept your reality in shades of gray!
Carpe Diem. The world is at your fingertips. Tomorrow, go do something different, something new. Eat something that you have never eaten. Drive to some place that you have never been. Create something, invent something, learn something.
Explore the extraordinary mystery of the world. Quit merely existing and start to live!

I just watched Dead Poets Society again and I got a little carried away with this post. Sorry.
