A Billion Things I Hate (cont)

The current state of Detroit Pistons basketball. We have lost 8 of the last 11 games. I know it takes time to learn how to play with an unconventional guy like Iverson, but my patience is wearing thin...

Wendy's commercials. No, fuck you, it IS fast food. And that annoying voice reading such an insipid script. Meat-a-tarian? FUCK YOU! 3-conomics? FUCK YOU! (Seinfeld voice)Who were the ad-wizards that came up with that one?

Obama Merchandise. Fake quarters? Commemorative plates? An inauguration inspired CD? I've had enough of this shit.

Actual news on ESPN. I watch Sportscenter and Mike and Mike in the mornings. I watch these shows for sports content. If I want real news, I will listen to NPR. I DO NOT want to watch Mike and Mike interviewing survivors from the plane crash, or Sportscenter covering the Obama inauguration. Just stick to sports!

The fact that I like novels by Paul Auster. I finish each book by slamming it down in anger and yelling at the book/author. And I'm still going to go read another one. Goddammit!

The monkey-shit that passes for political discourse. Every news outlet is the same fucking thing! Get two guys on opposite sides of an issue, one from each extreme, and have them yell at each other for 5 minutes, call it a debate, and shove it on the air. Ad hominem and straw-man attacks are classic refuges of weak arguments....they now substitute for meaningful discussion. I'm not sure which is more infuriating, when it's the side I disagree with using them, or when it's my own.

The Pistons state is sad, but I find comfort in the fact that it isn't long term. I think they will turn it around and inject some young players into the mix.

I am more upset with Staples commercials right now. I hate that it is always the female secretary who tries to impress her big male boss by ordering from Staples. I'M the one who orders from Staples for our office. I hate feeling like a secretary/receptionist.

I cannot wait until Obamamania ends. I am very happy he is our president and I voted for him. But stop acting like he is a savior or even a tabloid celebrity. My over/under for when it ends is April.

ESPN has many things wrong with it - my boycott of the website is still goin' strong!

Again, the 24 hour news channels have killed respectable journalism.

It's not just the 24 hour news networks though, it's everywhere. Even on "respectable" outlets like the BBC or NPR.

Do you get to hit the easy button?

No I don't - that "easy" thing is a marketing lie. Everytime I order headphones, I receive the order and find that they don't offer those specific headphones anymore. Lo and behold, you can still get them from their website.

Haha, that's a little bit funny.
