If you didn't get the reference to Fry's dog, keep in mind that the phenomenon of reference is still an unsolved problem, and it could well be that no full understanding of reference is possible....or maybe you just aren't a Futurama fan...
Those were easy! And I got the Futurama reference. When someone says "Fry"...I think of Fry from Futurama.When someone says "fries"...I think of the fast food side order.
