Music Request

Here are some songs I'm listening to on heavy rotation right now:

Atmosphere - Get It To Get Her
Steve Joblonsky - Scorponok
Flyleaf - Justice and Mercy
La Caution - The a la Menthe (Ocean's 12 Instrumental)
Nonpoint - Bullet With a Name
Shinedown - Crying Out
Yo Yo Ma - Fugata
Tiger Army - Santa Carla Twilight
Sage Francis - Got Up This Morning

I need some new music!

Haha, I haven't even hear of half those. Are they techno-type artists?

Here's what I like:

Airborne Toxic Event- "Gasoline" (acoustic) and "Sometime Around Midnight" (their popular one)

The Bird and The Bee-"Love Letter to Japan" and "My Love"

Matt and Kim- "Lessons Learned"

Nada Surf- "I Like What You Say"

This Providence- "Letdown"

Silversun Pickups- "Panic Switch"

Pretty easy listening, there. Nothing crazy =).

Haha, no none of them are techno. (Unless you want to say the The a la Menthe instrumental version is techno. It's really a rap song...but french rap is terrible)

Good stuff, thanks. I like the regular version of Gasoline better than the acoustic though.

Have you heard of or listened to 107.1 in Ann Arbor? It's my mom's new favorite station....I think you could be a DJ on it.

For the record, that was supposed to be a compliment....

Yea, that threw me for a loop there =). A compliment? It's me, Mike, remember???

So this 107.1 radio station...are you saying:
1)The music they play is similar to the music I listen to.
2) I have the same musical tastes as your mom.
3) The DJs are so awful at what they do that even I could be better at their job.

Oh, and I forgot one more song to include (if you're still looking for new music). I've listened to nothing but this group the last three days...

Metric, "Help, I'm Alive"

A thought just occured to me (I know, a first for everything...shut up I hate you)...

You should get a 'LastFM' account. I have one (it's on the sidebar of my blog...it keeps track of what I listen to and such). I would say it's like a music MySpace, but I don't use it for that.

They have a radio function, where you can type in a band's name that you like, and they will come up with a bunch of similar artists and play their music in this personalized radio "station". And if you like a song, you can save it, and they'll put it into a heavier rotation. Really kind of neat, and worthwhile if you're interested in checking out new and different musics.

Just throwing it out there =)

What I was trying to say was that their format is very much in-line with your musical tastes. Although they do play more "pop"-ish songs like Snow Patrol and Coldplay, they also play a lot of indie stuff as well. And since you seem to gravitate to the lesser known/indie bands, I thought you would probably make a good DJ.

....It's just coincidence that you have the same musical taste as my mom.

Yeah, I saw LastFM on your blog.

I've tried personalized internet radio stations before. They're OK, but they don't allow you to choose exactly which song you want, when you want.

You're right, they are good for finding new music, but seeing as how I'm lazy, I came up with an easier way..........just get music recommendations from you.

Haha, okay. You're right, you can't play a specific song at the moment you want. I hear you. I use it to find new bands/songs, and then I just go and download the songs I like.

For some reason I always pictured your mom as a Josh Grobin-type music listener. Perhaps I'm just being stereotypical, as most moms seem to like him.

Being a DJ would be fun, except I wouldn't like the talking part. Just let me play the music. And it doesn't seem like an overly hard job either. I mean, if Adam could do it...

Sick burn =).

My mom definitely likes Josh Groban. But ever since 107.1 started broadcasting, the Groban CD's have been shelved.
