Wii Sports Resort

Wii Sports Resort is pretty much a sequel to the Wii Sports game that was bundled with the Wii Console itself. Sports Resort is very much like its predecessor, in that it is a collection of relatively simple mini-games using the Mii characters that users have created.

The game is bundled with WiiMotion Plus, Nintendo's new innovation for improved controls. It works well, but very subtly. ... which is a good thing. The controls do not get in the way of the gameplay, allowing for a more natural motion when swinging a golf club or throwing a frisbee. Of course, improved sensitivity means that the tasks become more difficult to do perfectly. For example, the WiiMotion plus can pick up a twist of the wrist in a golf swing, which can send the ball off-line. I like the increased difficulty, but more casual players might get frustrated with a slightly more difficult learning curve.

The games themselves are mostly fun. I think my favorite is the swordplay mini-game. This works much better and is much more fun than the Wii Sports Boxing. My least favorite is the wake-boarding. The controls work pretty well, I just didn't think it was very fun.

Overall, this is fun game. WiiMotion Plus upgrades the controls without being intrusive, and the mini-games all respond well, even if some of them are more fun than others. 4/5 stars.

I was curious about this game. Is the game set-up similar to that of Wii Sports, too? Like does it offer training, fitness tests, etc.?

I was wondering if it was more like Wii Play rather than Sports. I love Sports, but I'm not as into Play (although I do play both frequently still...).

It's much more like Wii Sports than Wii play, but it's a mixture of both. I would say about a 75-25 breakdown.

It keeps track of your skill level for each mini-game the same as in Sports. (1000 is still all-star)

It doesn't offer fitness tests, but there are several mini-games within each activity. It is a bigger game than either Sports or Play.

We haven't used our Wii as much as I'd like, so I'm not sure that we'll buy too many more games. However, this is one game we were excited about. I'm glad it was a 4/5
