- The Pistons suck this year, but I enjoy rooting for them. I even forgave Ben Wallace and root for him again. I like this year's team more than last year's, even if they are worse. It's weird.

- I've created a war on my bookshelf. I have the Dalai Lama next to Sun-tzu, Sam Harris next to G.K. Chesterton, Ayn Rand next to Kurt Vonnegut, etc. Every time I look at it I can almost feel the tension created by the juxtaposition. It's sort-of a metaphor for my state of mind. Also, I was bored.

- I give The Book of Eli a thumbs middle...but a good thumbs middle. Denzel Washington is awesome as always. And taken individually, most of the scenes are pretty good. But they don't work together as a whole, at least not in the way the director wanted. The Book of Eli doesn't really become what it tried to be, but I applaud the effort. Most movies like this are mindless, and this one definitely is not. It tries to be meaningful. It tries to make a point. And I really like that it tried to make a point, even if the execution is a little bit lacking.

- Go Saints! Go Colts! Resting your starters does work!

- 24 tonight! My favorite quote about 24? "In a universe of insouciant special agents, Bauer is, if nothing else, souciant. " (From the NY Times Review) More than that quote though, I think the funniest thing about it is the fact that the New York Times is reviewing 24. I would think that there's not a lot of overlap between NY times readers and 24 viewers. (I got the link from Dave Barry's Blog, I'm not part of the overlap) It's like the Iron Chef judges reviewing McDonald's cheeseburgers.

- How awesome would it be to have the Iron Chef judges review fast-food menus? I would totally watch that show.

I am happy the Pistons finally decided to go in a new direction, but I am unhappy with the direction they chose. I like the Villanueva signing (especially with Wallace leaving), but the Gordon signing is curious. Why not save the money and go after a big name this summer? I feel like we have many years of mediocrity ahead and that bums me out.

After reading your review on 'The Book of Eli' I will probably wait until it comes out on DVD. I thought about seeing it in theatres; I love Denzel.

Haha, resting your starters worked this year, but not over time. Plus I don't think the Cardinals and Ravens were too stiff of competition. They were both inept defensively and offensively, respectively. Yes, I am making excuses for me losing the argument =).

I am ready for '24'! I am very curious to see how Freddie Prinze does in a serious, adult role. I have a feeling he'll be surprisingly good.

Haha, I would totally watch that Iron Chef, too.

I don't know a thing about the 2009-2010 Pistons except that Ben Gordon scored the NBA's 20 millionth point (or something).

I am very surprised that the Saints won - especially by such a huge margin. I figured the Colts would be able to shake off the rust, but I was very surprised by the Saints. If they make it to the Super Bowl, that trims the list of teams who haven't made it even more (go Lions!)

I am not very excited about 24 this year. The premise (we're about to make peace with another country, their leader is in the US but someone is trying to kill/kidnap them to try and prevent it) sounds exactly like last year's. They have to catch my attention early or I'm not going to watch.
