"...Mrs. Palin, you are an avatar of the shameless hypocrisy and cognitive disconnection that have driven our politics for the last decade, a process of stupidification creeping like kudzu over our national life." -Leonard Pitts

Another excellent column from Mr. Pitts. But it's important to note that just because Palin is wrong doesn't mean the democratic challenger (Obama or whoever else) is necessarily right. Hypocrisy is the hallmark of American politics, and democrats are just as culpable as republicans. The stupidification of America is not a political position. I know plenty of people who voted for Obama that revel in hypocrisy, cognitive disconnect, and downright ignorance.
Voting against stupidity doesn't make anyone smarter.
To quote Thoreau, "...I cast my vote, perchance, as I think right; but I am not vitally concerned that that right should prevail. I am willing to leave it to the majority. Its obligation, therefore, never exceeds that of expediency. Even voting for the right is doing nothing for it. It is only expressing to men feebly your desire that it should prevail. A wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance, nor wish it to prevail through the power of the majority."
