- I saw the coolest thing ever this morning: an old man wearing long khaki pants and a cheap dress shirt was jogging down the sidewalk. Not speed-walking, full out jogging. He even had in earbuds from an MP3 player. This was an OLD guy, like-he-looked-over-100-old, and he was out jogging. In long pants and a dress shirt. Listening to an iPod. Awesome.
- Our production manager has taken a leave of absence for 30 days, and it's very iffy that she'll ever be back. Guess who gets to pick up most of the slack? Not so awesome.
- I visited with my sister over the weekend. It's a strange feeling when you know that your little sister can drink you under the table. I don't know, when I think of my sister I always think of her as about 12 years old. I guess it's hard to maintain that mental image when she's showing you the "cool new bar signs she bought to go over the beer pong table."
- I've finished the Starcraft II campaign and have now ventured out into the online multiplayer. It's a whole 'nother ballgame. The matches are intense! It's my contention that every new competitive game should have built-in online multiplayer and a ranking system. It makes any game better.
- I started playing in a 5v5 outdoor soccer league. Our first game was last week. We lost 4-2, but it was still fun. Plus I scored a cool goal...not bad considering I'm rusty and out of shape.
- Almost finished the re-read of the Wheel of Time series, leading up to the release of #12 (part one) in paperback. Ugggh....I don't recommend reading the whole series in a marathon series of back-to-back-to-back-etc. The plot gets so bogged down in details that it practically stops. The 10th WoT got so bad that I just skipped entire chapters that focused on secondary characters. ....of course, I'm still looking forward to reading #12 though. It's supposed to be pretty good....

If you are picking up the extra work, hopefully that means you get something extra out of it.
That's cool that you're back into soccer. 5 v 5 outdoor? How does that work? Does that include the goalie or no?
I'm really glad to hear you're back playing soccer. You should be doing the things you enjoy.
That's funny about your sister. I suppose I have my own image of her- as a cameraman we have to bribe with subs- so it's weird for even me to picture her bouncing ping pong balls into a cup full of beer.
My brother was in Lansing for a church function, and after it was over we went out to a bar to watch the Tiger's game and wait for my sister to get off work.
We each drank two beers over the course of about an hour. (maybe more) My sister met us at the bar and downed a shot and 2 beers in about a 1/2 hour (maybe less) without missing a beat.
Bribing her with a sub would probably still work, but nowdays a case or a fifth works better.
The 5 v 5 doesn't include the goalie. It's played on a small field with small goals.
It's similar in size and style to indoor soccer, just no boards.
