Oddly Specific Randoms

- I'm reading a book called The Nothing That Is. It's about the evolution of the concept of zero. Chapter 9 is titled 'Much Ado'. I just love that.

- Command and Conquer used to be awesome, but with the release of so many great RTS games it just does not hold up well. I got C&C: The First Decade and was playing some of the classics, Tiberian Sun, Renegade, Red Alert, but I just couldn't get into them the way I used to. I think I've been spoiled by Starcraft 2.

- Macaroni and Cheese always tastes better when the noodles are shaped like cartoon characters.

- I recently re-watched Synecdoche, New York. (I think I'm leaning toward liking it) There's a scene where the father is trying to explain what plumbing is to his 4 year old daughter and he says, "The pipes go everywhere." To which the daughter replies, "every Single where?" I can't get that out of my head. Anytime I see or hear the word 'everywhere' my mind immediately jumps to 'every single where.' It's weird.

- There are marshmallow "peeps" for just about every holiday now. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, peeps are awesome. More marshmallow is more better. But on the other hand, peeps are supposed to be little yellow chicks. Not bunny rabbits or christmas trees or valentine's day hearts or whatever. Yellow chicks. I guess my official position is: eating them under protest.

- "Sky" is always the worst part of a jigsaw puzzle. "Grass" can be a close second.

What is Synecdoche, New York?

It's a very strange movie.

It's about a theater director who's final masterpiece is to re-create his own life as a production. So he casts actors to play all of the characters in his life, including himself. And of course, his life includes creating this production, so the actor playing the director has to re-create the production again....it gets really complicated. It's hard to explain.

Did you ever see Being John Malkovich? It's by the same director, if that expalins anything...

I liked Being John Malkovich.

I also like different movies- movies of things that haven't been done a 1000 times. This one sounds like it might be worth a watch!

You should definitely watch it. If for no other reason than to explain the metaphors to me.

Is it new or old? Would I have to get it from Netflix, or is it going to show up on TV sometime soon?

Umm...according to IMDB it came out in 2008. Netflix would probably be your best bet. I wouldn't expect it to be on television anytime soon.

Oye, but I don't have Netflix anymore!

So go to Blockbuster. Or order it On Demand.

Stacey loves shaped pasta. I think her favorite is Scooby Doo. The only thing I don't like about it is it's easy to undercook and be left with crunchy centers.

Peeps in general are gross.
