Crude Allusions to the Platonic Ideal

green at the bottom
and us in the middle

like elementary school icons
painstakingly crafted with crayons, colored paper, and finger-paints
we are giants and we always smile
even though we occasionally seem to be missing
fingers, hands, or even arms

it's perfect
it's perfect

I swear to god it's perfect
but there just isn't enough refrigerator space
for every masterpiece

is this even real life?

sometimes I'm worried that I'm losing it
and the rest of the time I think that I never
even had it in the first place
