Something to Ponder (well....laugh at anyway)

Guys care about sports teams. I'm not talking about simply rooting: I'm talking about a relationship that guys develop, a commitment to a sports team that guys take way more seriously than, for example, wedding vows.

When a guy gets married, he might say that it's for richer or poorer, until death do them part, etc., but he knows, somewhere in the deep recesses of his mind, that something could come up to make him change his mind, possibly even during the reception. Whereas the bond he forms with a sports team is permanent.

You may feel that there is something twisted about the values of a guy who can be more committed to a bunch of transient athletes - none of whom he really knows, and none of whom care about him - than he is to his own wife. But you have to consider the larger picture, from the guy's point of view: His wife may be a warm, loving, and loyal person, but there is no way she will ever make the playoffs. Not even if she really works out and bulks up during the offseason.

Hey, Dave Barry is funny!

How long have you known about this guy?

He's apparently been around for a long time, but I just heard about him last week.

Did you know he used to write a newspaper column?

Oh yea, any good?

As long as didn't spend time writing for some crappy paper, like one out Miami or something, he must be pretty decent.

I don't know where he used to write. I didn't research it that much. But there's no way he got stuck writing for the Miami Herald, I'm sure it was for a more prestigious and more famous paper.
